Granite stone has been used for the construction of buildings since the era of the Egyptians. There are several chemicals active in the composition of granite all of which are quite appropriate for making it very ideal and durable as a building material of choice amongst many home builders. Additionally, granite comes in a wide variety of choice colors.
Granite can be used for both internal and external decor and for this reason it is always a material of choice use by most of the constructors and architects to get an amazing building construction. But we however need to mind the fact that for the building to indeed be as great in the end as we wish it to, there is the need to have the building put up in a manner that is as per the set specifications for the building and even more so for the granite stone buildings. Read on further and see some of the common techniques for putting up the granite stone walls as outlined in this article.
We will first have a look at the traditional mortared stone walls. Under this style, considered to be of the traditional days, the large blocks of stone are laid in the best possible position and then the gaps will be bonded together. The common material used to bond these bits of stone is cement which is a component of a number of chemical elements such as calcium, silica, limestone and clay alumina. The cement is further softened and given a finer texture by adding a bit of lime to it. Even when you are constructing the free standing falls, you will follow the same procedure of constructing the rock walls that require a high degree of care.
The veneer stone walls will be the next technique of putting up the rock stone walls we will be looking at. Veneer has been widely used for the interior and exterior d?cor of the structural walls and it is a composition or mixture of granite garnets in very thin forms. While using these, special kinds of equipments like metal tabs are used to have the granite placed efficiently. The rock wall constructors will even use metal bars in the walls as a step to reduce the cracking of the veneer stone walls.
The other common type of rock wall construction are the slipform stone walls. To construct the rock walls using the slip form technique, you will have a combination of both the techniques we have touched on above-the veneer and traditional mortared stone walls.
